A totally revised and updated edition of the first book to offer a holistic approach to slowing the progression of MS
• Provides guidance on special diets and nutritional supplements, exercise, alternative therapies, and the effects of negative and positive thoughts on MS
• Explains how to reduce toxic overload from mercury and chemicals
• Includes life wisdom and coping strategies from others who suffer with MS
Judy Graham is an inspiration. Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis when she was just 26 years old, 35 years later Judy Graham is still walking, working, and has successfully birthed and raised a son who is now an adult. In this totally revised and updated edition of her groundbreaking Multiple Sclerosis, first published in 1984, she shares the natural treatments that have helped her and many others with MS stabilize or even reverse the condition.
Beginning with the effects of diet, she explains that many people with MS have been eating the wrong foods and shows which foods are “good” and “bad,” how to recognize food sensitivities, and how to correct nutritional deficiencies using dietary supplements. She also looks at reducing the body’s toxic overload, whether from mercury amalgam fillings, chemicals, or medications. She presents the exercises with proven benefits for MS she has found most reliable and appropriate, such as yoga, pilates, and t’ai chi, and explores alternative therapies that provide relief and support to the body’s efforts to control MS, including acupuncture, reflexology, shiatsu, reiki, and ayurveda. Most important are the insights she provides on the effects of negative thoughts on MS. She demonstrates how a positive mental attitude can actually slow down or even reverse the progression of this disease. Judy Graham is living proof that, as devastating as a diagnosis of MS is, life can still be lived to its fullest.

Let me tell you the truth ... From a physician
By xnm
MS is a horrible disease. But the cause is different in different people. And as such the progression of symptoms is so different in different people. The time of onset is different in different people. Lesions come and go. Everyone gets better if they have the relapsing form until their next attack. Time between attacks is variable too. So if you did something after your attack and got better that does not mean what you are doing is the cause of you getting better .... That is the natural course of the disease ... Until the next attack which would come at variable times anyway. No one piece of advice will work for all people. There are a lot of contradictions in this book on the FOOD section. Eat one thing on this page of the book and don't eat that same thing on another page of this book. There are a lot of assertions made that are simply guesses because people with MS get desperate for a solution ( trust Me I know) but there is no evidence to back these assertions. Even anecdotal evidence is lacking in the real world. This book may help you to eat healthier which is overall a good thing, but it is NOT MS specific. Only the section of Vitamin D intake is largely established information. If you have MS, take vitamin D. This may actually help you. Otherwise, See an MS specialist and get on medications. There are many medications out there NOW that slow the progression of disease now. Don't see the average neurologist that's not familiar with these things but who thinks and insists they know. Go to an academic center and not a small community hospital. And sit in an MS specialist office for a while. And you will see that older patients who got MS years ago when there was no medicine come walking in with their canes or on a wheelchair, those that have gotten it more recently in the last 10 years and are on medications are walking and working and have little disability. This the best advice anyone can give you. I am a physician and speak from the heart and head. You have everything to loose, go on medications with an MS specialist at an academic center. The stories about diet alone will only hurt you ... Wishful thinking is too risky here.
The sections that are on issues other than diet maybe helpful to some. These sections are perhaps the only sections of the book that are worth reading.
GET on MEDICATIONS if you have MS. Don't trust the diet hype alone.

at least a lot of ideas to research so each person with MS can determine what is best for them
By AndKGent
A lot of valuable resources in this book. It gives a lot of options, at least a lot of ideas to research so each person with MS can determine what is best for them, in addition to traditional medicine. I have gone back to this book many times, and have used some of the sources she has cited to do further research
