About the Author
Charles “Chuck” Sennewald CSC, CPP, is an independent security management consultant and expert witness and the author of numerous Butterworth-Heinemann titles, including "Effective Security Management"; "Security Consulting"; "Retail Crime, Security and Loss Prevention: An Encyclopedic Reference;" "From the Files of a Security Expert Witness"; and earlier editions of this book "The Process of Investigation." Chuck is a graduate of California State University - Los Angeles with a BS degree in Police Science and Administration. Chuck is also the founder and first president of the International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC), and is a long-time member of ASIS International. He has lectured and is read in countries around the globe.
John Christman, CPP, is the former VP and Director of Security for Macy's West and is now a security consultant.

Charles A. Sennewald--the Best

This review is written about "Retail Crime, Security, and Loss Prevention--An Encyclopedia." I sincerely believe that this is one of the best books, if not the best one, that can be found on the subject. Dr.Sennewald hired me as a Special-Agent/Investigator for the Broadway Dept. Stores in 1971 when he was a Security Manager for Carter-Hawley-Hale, Broadway Dept. Stores. I and many others received excellent training under Charles Sennewald and his managerial subordinates. It was not long before Dr.Sennewald became the Director of the Security Department. At the time of my being hired, a whole new Loss Prevention Program was being launched. The emphasis was on prevention; however, that did not, in any way, exclude arrests and restitutions. I must say that our Security Department under Dr.Sennewald's direction was highly professional, efficient, and trustworthy. Charles A. Sennewald ran a tight ship, and I am glad he did. The best reference on the subjects yet compiled

This work of Mr. Sennewald and Mr. Christman has surpassed anything yet published
on Loss Prevention and Retail Security. Every Security/LossPrevention professional should own a copy, and, where possible, provide a copy for each store Security Department. A much needed addition to any retail security professional's library.
