New to Photography? This is REQUIRED IMHO!

I cannot say enough about how exceptional this book is, in instruction AND value!

If you cant understand exposure and the 3 parts of the exposure triangle you will never progress and you will always be somewhat lost. This book breaks it all down in small easy to retain steps with excellent color photos to illustrate exactly what they are talking about. I have below average reading comprehension due to age, health issues and just not being bright! I feel very strongly that if it got through to me, you will have great success. And heres the thing... Exposure is just one of the aspects of photography this book will teach you. Starting with equipment in the first chapter, to post production basics in the last chapter.

It covers EVERYTHING from understanding the different shooting modes, lenses, available light, flash, you name it.

I purchased this book along with my Canon SX50HS camera and I went from shooting auto to manual in one week and again, im a slow learner! Speaks volumes for this book.

I enjoyed the book so much i went back and read it in its entirety a month later. At that point I read "Stunning Digital Photography" which is an excellent EXCELLENT book in its own right, but Im glad I started with this book here.

I will be purchasing an enthusiasts level DSLR very soon and with that I plan to buy one of the companion books with my models name in the title (all available on Amazon).

I would also suggest giving your cameras manual a good reading if you havent done so.

In my opinion, if you want to have a good understanding of photography basics, you cant do better than starting with The Beginner's Photography Guide.

This is a very good, well written book on quality paper. It is an excellent overview of the subject with enough detail and explanation to give you a solid foundation of the concepts of digital photography. Highly recommended for "Beginners" and even intermediate photographers can find it a useful refresher.

Geotechnical fundamental

This book provides great depth and detail in unsaturated soil mechanics for geotechnical practitioners. It is always a reference that is used in moments of direction and confirmation. The hard cover keeps the book intact for a long life hopefully to be handed on to future generations. Due to it's size it is not a book for the field.

BEFORE THERE WERE 50 SHADES OF GREY...

This is the original "50 Shades" book... For all those fans of that trilogy, if you want a really compelling read -- read this. Its a multi-generational story that follows some of the strongest female characters ever written, with more than a little titillation (that Harold Robbins pioneered, so many years ago). This goes way beyond 50 SHADES, but in a way that will not let you put the book down. To think that this was written so many years before - it makes you understand why Robbins is not only considered the "father of the airplane book", but also why (at the time) so many of his books were outlawed. He pushed the envelope so far - paving the way for so many authors who emulated (and continue to) his style and approach.

Excellent textbook for the modeler

This classic is outstanding for understanding why prototypical layouts work from the operational standpoint. It is possible to model layouts, or work (as I do) with virtual layouts in simulators such as Trainz for years without truly appreciating the "whys" and "wherefores" of the actual design and consists. This textbook has the answers. I say "textbook" because it reads like one. Packed with overwhelming amounts of information, this book can be daunting on the first pass. I find it best to skim through, and then read the material again for better understanding.

Yes, I plan on using this information to prepare routes in Trainz: A New Era. This outstanding modeling environment provides excellent tools to create model railroad layouts similar to those shown in this book, but without a lot of the space constraints that plague the modeler. This is a great resource to provide the details needed to understand how railroads really operate.

Excellent review of real railroading designs and concepts that can be applied to the model railroad. More helpful than a book of layout diagrams since it gives you the concepts and principles that you can modify for your own layout.

A Landmark Compilation of All of Paul Simon's Lyrics.

I feel like I have waited all my life for this book to be published. Ever since i first listened to Simon & Garfunkel in the 1960's. Over the last few years I have bought books of all the lyrics, poems and writings of Bob Dylan and of Leonard Cohen, my other heroes. Now, finally, Paul Simon's song lyrics have been released in a beautifully presented hardcover book of 412 pages.

The book starts with a Foreword by Chuck Close who, for the forty-plus years of his professional life as an artist, claims that every painting he has created has been painted with Paul's music playing in the background.

This is followed by an excellent and detailed Introduction by David Remnick, journalist, writer, and magazine editor.

The easy-to-read layout of all of Paul Simon's songs and poems from 1964 to 2016, is laid out in eight chapters. Throughout the book the reader will find full-page black and white photos of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel and photos of original hand-written lyrics and album covers.

Paul Simon Lyrics 1964-2016 is a treasure for lovers of the music of one of the 20th centuries most highly-esteemed song writers.

Insightful, Powerful Poetry

Paul Simon is one of the giants of music through 5 decades from the 60's to present in the company of Sir Paul McCartney, Sting, Bono and other greats. His Music is usually more lighthearted but his lyrics carry layers of meaning requiring careful listening and contemplation to grasp their full depth of meaning. The lyrics and Music blend so perfectly that one
can enjoy the performance without effort but this book which I've read, while listening to the performance on the recordings I have, gives me the opportunity to explore his meaning,
the passion and the insightful expression of current cultural conditions as well as his own internal feelings and interpretations of world conditions. Anyone who enjoys deeper immersion into culture, events and the changing times as expressed by a deeply understanding and caring artist will enjoy this book.

This was a gift for a bibliophile

He will be absolutly floored when I give it to him. We spoke of this book earlier, I was thinking of buying 2, but thought the kindle vesion, would be better for me, Paul Simon is one of the unsong masters of words, He and Garfunkal would have been as popoular as Beatles or Evis, if they wanted to have a gimmick or do more self pubilcity stunts, I am glad they din not ot makes me repect them sll the more.
