Not bad.

I found this book quite interesting, althought here were a number of items that were obviously personal choice, and not what I would necessarily agree with. Although it is not the best book on the subject I have seen, it is a very comprehensive and valuable book for anyone starting out. It is still an interesting book to read, written by someone who is quite passionate about this subject, and if I ever get it back from my father, I will refer to it again.

A Legal-Writing Classic

This book provides great advice and practical, well-designed exercises. Once considered radical by most lawyers, the book has helped reform legal writing, teaching a generation of lawyers that their writing "should not differ, without good reason, from ordinary well-written English."
The book is also a model of effective prose. It's clear and understandable even to a first-year law student. Yet it's also valuable to seasoned lawyers, especially to those die-hard lawyers who insist that legal writing should remain dense, and often incomprehensible, just because it's always been that way.
Well-respected experts such as Wydick and Garner reject that notion. And clients, who often succeed or fail (and sometimes live or die) by their lawyers' words, should reject it too.

This book was required reading for my first year in law school. After having read through it, I am glad it was. I wish that more lawyers were required to read it.
'Plain English for Lawyers' helps everyone write effectively from the Law Student, the practicing Lawyer, the Judge on the Bench, or just somebody that wants to write a persuasive or complicated report how to
Several frequent exercises are included to give the reader an opportunity to practice. Examples are plentiful, and illustrated well.
The last chapter covers punctuation. This chapter makes the book a reference worth keeping. I would recommend to anyone needing a reference for writing briefs, memorandum, or legal correspondence to keep this book on hand.

A ground-breaker that became a classic.

I first read this book in 1989, and I loved it. It made so much sense, yet it seemed so radical to a young associate at a large law firm. But the advice in this book has been around since 1978. Back then, it was breaking new ground. Now, its advice, though common among plain-English advocates, is still needed by the practicing bar. How great it would be if every lawyer followed Wydick's advice in this book.

E-Book Version 1 Star - Author & Good Books Publishing PLEASE FIX

Great recipes - all the other reviews show that - the 1 stars is because of the Navigation experience of this e-book version which they sell. It's obvious no one at that publisher tried to ever "really" use this book in any kind of e-book reader device or tablet.

Unlike a real dead tree book which you can quickly thumb through and stop at a glance and continue until you find something you're looking for, on the e-book you can't do that in no easy way. You more or less have to go through each page looking for the recipes you want - 1400 OF THEM! Seriously!! The table of context of the E-book is set up in section - Beef, Pork, Chicken, things like that, but within those sections there are hundreds of recipes - which means you still have to go through them each one at a time. It's just a bad joke.

I use digital readers, and tablets for all my reading material becauses it is light to carry with me all the time when I need or want them. In the case with a recipe book it's great to have with you when you go shopping so you can make sure you buy all the ingredients you need for any recipe you decide on or, when you change your mind at the last minute. Of course you can set up something like bookmarks in the digital book reader for the recipes you want to save and use again, but finding those recipes in the first place is pretty much a horrible experience. LETS FACE IT, in the modern digital age where paper isn't being wasted there is no reason why the table of context of this book shouldn't have a collapsable table of context of the name of each recipe listed with a link to that page of the recipe in this ebook! (HINT HINT - ARE YOU LISTENING PHYLLIS PELLMAN GOOD & GOOD BOOKS PUBLISHING?) It would make all the difference in using this recipe book in a digital reader as a functional tool in everyday real life. Please consider making such changes - and this recipe book would easily be a 10 star book in a 5 star rating!

A little disappointed

When I saw that this cookbook had 1,400 recipes, I thought "HOW AMAZING!". When I rec'd the cookbook, however, I was quickly disappointed. While it, is helpful to see a suggested size of crock pot for each recipe, it is somewhat disappointing that many of the recipes call for Crock Pot inserts. They are pans designed to fit inside of your crock pot and we don't own any of those. The crock pot insert substitute they offer, is using a metal coffee container. I dont think I would enjoy placing something like that in my crock pot, it just seems so odd. Additionally, some of the recipes are extremely repetitive. I don't think a cook book needs 30 variations on how to make queso, for example, when really the ingredient variation is so slight, it should not call for an entirely new recipe. I also think that many of the recipes are, well, for lack of better words,lame. For example, there is a soup recipe that calls for a can of V-8 juice, a cup of chicken broth and a can of green beans. I thought it was a little odd that something like that would even count as a real recipe. There are many more examples of things like that as well, but I don't have time to write them all in this review!

At any rate, I think that if you are an experienced cook, or crock pot user, you would find the majority of this cook book a little juvenile. However, for someone who is not as experienced in cooking, they would probably enjoy it more. If you don't have cooking inserts for your crock pot, there are many recipes you won't be able to use, so I would remember to take that into consideration as well.

Kindle edition does not have a searchable table of contents. Extremely awkward to use. Looks like good recipes but so hard to find them. Index is by ingredient. Badly needs index for individual recipes in each category. PLEASE CREATE A FIX!

About the Author
John Mangan is Director of the University of Hull Logistics Institute where he also holds the Peter Thompson Chair in Logistics. A native of Ireland, he holds the following qualifications: BSc (National University of Ireland), Higher Diploma (Maynooth University, Ireland), MA (Lancaster University, UK), MSc (Cranfield University, UK), and PhD (Cardiff University, UK). Prior to entering academia, he worked in Aer Lingus (the Irish national airline) and in the Irish Civil Service. John's teaching and research is largely focused in two areas: global and maritime logistics, and management development in logistics and supply chain management (SCM. Prior to his appointment at Hull, John lectured first at University college Dublin, Ireland, and then at the trinity IMI Graduate School of Management in Dublin, Ireland. He also spent time as Fulbright Scholar at Boston College, USA. In addition to his current teaching and research commitments at the University of Hull, John also regularly teaches operations and logistics on University of Hull MBA programmes in both the Middle East and Asia.

Chandra Lalwani is Professor of Supply Chain Management and Director of the centre for Logistics Research at the University of Hull Logistics Institute. He holds a BEng in Electrical Engineering, an MEng in Control Systems and another MEng in Systems Engineering. He obtained his PhD from the University of Wales in 1978 based on his research on the dynamic modelling of commodity flow systems. Prior to joining the University of Hull he taught at Cardiff University Business School and was responsible for doctoral research in logistics and operations management. Professor Lalwani was a Deputy Director and Co-investigator at Cardiff Business School on the Cardiff University Innovative Manufacturing Research Centre, and Principal Investigator on one of its three flagship research projects on sustainable logistics. Chandra's teaching and research focus is in supply chain management, retail logistics, logistics and transport modelling, and integration of transport in supply chains. With his research in transport in supply chains, he has worked closely with the retail and distribution industry in the UK.

Tim Butcher is Lecturer in Operations and Project Management at the University of Hull Logistics Institute where he is the MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management Programme Director. He holds the following qualifications: BEng(Hons) (University of Liverpool, UK) MSc (Cranfield University, UK), and EngD (Cranfield University, UK). Prior to entering academia, he completed a technical engineering apprenticeship and worked as a maintainability engineer for Westland Helicopters. Tim's teaching and research is largely focused in two areas: human factors and new technologies in logistics and SCM. In addition to his current teaching and research commitments at the University of Hull, Tim also regularly teaches project management on University of Hull MBA programmes in the Middle East.

It's an OK book but would have like to review a few pages before. It sounds like it's from a foreign country just by the verbage. This industry is important to our economy and a clear understanding of it for students interested in entering this field requires an American text with global information. This is good for getting a little look into it. Going more current is better.

A connection between worlds

This book shows us the help and service given to others that a medium can give. Despite a very severe childhood, this lady developed her natural Spiritual gifts and went on to give comfort and guidance to those in need., She brings to many the awareness of our Spirit friends, and thus giving understanding of the ups and downs we suffer during our lifetime.., this book is very interesting and is worth reading.

Love this story of courage and commitment!

As a lover of all things mystical and spiritual, I felt a deep kinship with Sue Murray as I read this book. I was already a believer, and her stories just confirmed what I already know. I am thankful for her courage and honesty in telling her story. I loved the book and immediately upon finishing it, I searched for more titles by her and was disappointed to find none. I look forward to reading more books by her in the future as I am sure she will be drawn to do. She is a gifted, humble medium with a profound story that is amazing and comforting to read.

This Book Brought Me Peace

I was unable to sleep and was praying for peace as I was worried about a new job, my direction in life, and relationship issues. In a state of anxious insomnia, I picked up my Kindle and began searching for a book to read that would distract me from my anxious thoughts. I came across this book and stayed up for a few more hours because I couldn't put it down. Reading about spirit from a medium who had been through worse things in life than me yet was able to reframe everything as a blessing was just the medicine my spirit needed to find some peace. Though the book was free to me as an Amazon Prime member, I decided to buy the book so I wouldn't lose the important information woven through this wondrous book as threads of light.
